Welcome to the 2017 Ed Horvath Ringette Tournament!

To note are few typical things such as minor officials:

  1. For all round robin, including cross-over, games: The team designated as VISITING shall supply Shot Clock and Scorekeeper (Game Sheet).  HOME team will supply the Game Clock Operation.  Each team playing must supply a minor official to work the penalty boxes.  
  2. For all semi-final and final games: MHRA will provide clock and shot clock operation. The team designated as VISITING shall supply Scorekeeper (Game Sheet).  Each team playing must supply a minor official to work the penalty boxes.

Game duration, start times and running behind policy

    1. Play will be 2 eighteen (18) minute stop-time periods for U10, U12, U14, U16, and U19 division. Play will be 2 twenty (20) minute stop-time periods for the Open B division.
    2. Teams must be ready to go on the ice ten (10) minutes before game time.  Teams not iced within two (2) minutes of the referee's whistle being blown to start the game will forfeit the game.
    3. At the discretion of the Tournament Committee, running time may be reverted to at any time if the games are running behind to an extent that the Tournament may be jeopardized.
    4. And foremost, this weekend is about the players and their love for the game.  Please make sure all team staff and fans are aware of our behavior policy, we take great pride in the quality of the event we host and have been known for.  Please help us to continue to create a great environment for players, officials and volunteers alike.

Ed Horvath Interprovincial Ringette Tournament

Each year, Medicine Hat Ringette Association hosts the Ed Horvath InterProvincial Ringette Tournament. 

Our tournament takes it's name from Ed Horvath, a Ringette parent, coach, and current referee who was instrumental in the start-up and growth of the sport of Ringette in Southern Alberta in the 1980's.

The Ed Horvath InterProvincial Tournament will be held in one large tournament from December 1st-3rd, 2017 in Medicine Hat situated near the Saskatchewan border, it is a unique tournament in that teams from both Alberta and Saskatchewan are often in attendance.

The Registration "Tournament" is not currently available.


Applications Open:  October 1st, 2017

Applications Close:  October 13th, 2017

Teams Notified by : October 22nd, 2017


U10- Step 1 & 2- $550

U12- B & C- $700

U14- A & B- $700

U16A- $700

U19A- $700

Open B- $750


Important Information

Application Process:

Tournament Applications will only be accepted through our new Online Tournament Application beginning October 1st, 2017. Applications will close on October 13th, 2017 at midnight.   Teams will be accepted on a First Come, First Served Basis.    The Tournament Fee will be collected online at the time of application.  Confirmation e-mails will be sent out indicating that we have received your application.

Team Acceptance:

Accepted teams will be notified by October 22, 2017 and will be posted to the Tournament Page on our website.   A maximum of 4 teams per division will be placed on a waiting list.  If your team is not accepted your Entry Fee will be refunded.    Teams must email a copy of their Ringette Alberta TRF to

Withdrawal & Refunds:

Refunds will only be issued if your team withdraws prior to October 13th.   If you withdraw after October 13th a refund will only be issued if a suitable replacement team is found to fill your spot.


Ringette Alberta affiliation rules apply for all teams, including those from out of province.

Overage Players:
Overage players will only be allowed to participate if they are registered with the team (proof required), play on no other team, and can be no more than 1 year overage. The maximum number of goals allowed to be scored and counted by an overage player is 2 in any game.

Tournament Format:

The tournament will be a round robin format.  All teams will play a minimum of FOUR games, All teams must be ready to play @ 9:00 am on December 1st, 2017.  All U10 Teams and divisions will be using the smaller nets. 

Game Volunteers:

Each team must provide a volunteers to work the shot clock, score sheet or time clock and penalty box, No exceptions. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the game.
